Reiki Energy Healing
Reiki is a Japanese technique for relaxation that also promotes healing. Through gentle touch and hovering their hands over the client's body, the Reiki practitioner serves as a conduit for soothing energy to flow into the client, helping to release tension and promote physical, mental-emotional, energetic and spiritual healing and well-being.
Michelle has studied with several Reiki Master Teachers in Usui Shiki Ryoho and has earned her first degree, second degree and Master Reiki Practitioner certifications, the latter with Holy Fire Reiki attunement. Her Reiki sessions begin with a short guided breathwork and meditation to support the client in clarifying their intention for the session and relaxing into receiving Reiki. The client lies down comfortably for 40-60 minutes as they receive Reiki. Michelle's Reiki clients have ranged in their intentions, from cultivating overall well-being, to relieving stress, to seeking relief from physical or emotional pain, such as grief and bodily injury.

Physical Yoga
Michelle is trained in a variety of Hatha Yoga styles: Vinyasa Flow, Yin/Restorative Yoga and Flow and Restore (half Vinyasa/half Yin and Restorative). Her clients have ranged from beginners, who would like to learn the basics of Hatha Yoga postures before stepping into a group class setting, to experienced Yoga practitioners, who would like to refine their physical alignment in postures and increase their strength, flexibility and balance. She has worked with diverse age groups and physical abilities, from professional athletes, seeking to balance their training regimen to prevent injury, to middle-aged employees, who work at an office for many hours a day and want to stay healthy, to senior citizens, who practice chair Yoga to maintain their mobility and coordination. As a former elementary school teacher, Michelle has also facilitated Yoga classes for children, and through weekly practice over several months, they have demonstrated increased ability to focus and self-regulate in both the Yoga class setting and in other areas of life, such as test-taking at school.
Breathwork & Meditation
Michelle draws from Mindful breathing techniques for self-regulation and Yogic techniques for regulating the breath, called Pranayama, to regulate one's energy. Breathwork ranges from calming and grounding to relax the nervous system and bring clarity of mind to energizing, promoting digestion and inner fire and rebalancing energy with neural integration, or balancing the left and right hemispheres of the brain. Guided Meditations range from starting a daily meditation practice to specific focuses, such as cultivating self-compassion with difficult emotions, visualizing to actualize goals and intentions, nurturing loving kindness and joy, balancing specific chakras, or energy centers, or deepening awareness and clarity.
Her Meditation and Breathwork clients have ranged from middle and high school student groups to adults individually and in group sessions on retreat or during lunch breaks at the office.

Feedback about Private Sessions with Michelle...
Michelle is clearly a spiritual and present individual who has a deep understand of energy. In my experience, Reiki requires a practitioner that can be both very open and deeply focused at the same time. I felt that very much in Michelle during our session. After leaving, I experienced more openness and presence, with a deeper feeling of connection to, and understanding of, my own energy. Highly recommended.

Recently, I had a wonderful first Reiki experience with Michelle. I did not have any knowledge of Reiki before trying it and asked Michelle to do Reiki with me based on recommendations of friends who experienced her personal Reiki sessions. Michelle guided this wonderful spiritually enriching experience using her hands as a conduit for harmonizing energy, relaxation, peace and well being throughout my mind and body. I look forward to future sessions with Michelle and encourage everyone try Reiki.

Michelle is one of the finer instructors of yoga, she cares and listens…my wrists have become stronger and my flexibility has increased.

We enjoy your classes and look forward to them. We are probably your oldest students, at age 91 and 81, but still actively involved in work and community affairs, thanks in large part to yoga and how much we have learned from your classes!

Yoga was very foreign. I didn't know what each pose meant...(or) how important your breath is...I've improved so much in my breathing (during this semester with Michelle Chua learning yoga for the first time). I'm now able to hold myself up in downward facing dog. I also find myself starting my day with child's pose and three minutes of meditation.

Michelle is intuitive and in tune with each of her student's needs. She takes the time and puts forth the effort to create a tranquil space where you can truly let go and either open up to the universe or focus inward. She will make physical hands-on assists as needed and help you really get the experience you seek. I highly recommend her class for beginners and advanced practitioners.

REviews of Root 2 Rise Yoga with Michelle chua:Michelle truly lives out what she teaches. She is so much more than a yoga teacher - I learned this when I went on her exquisitely curated trip that she organized to Costa Rica this past June 2018...Hopefully like me, you'll be delighted by her effervescent love of movement, nature, and all people! Michelle clearly stands out with her beautiful and bright energy. I love how her practice and teaching encompass body, mind and spirit. She not only teaches yoga but lives and exudes it. Michelle not only teaches 'yoga', she embodies it fully with her heart and soul... Michelle is by far one of the best instructors I've ever had, period. Patient, clear in her explanations and demos, and so encouraging... My first yoga class was with Michelle years ago. You can have the best (yoga pose) sequence and not teach from your heart. With Michelle, I also feel her passion when I'm in her class. I can see she loves what she does, and she inspired me to want to teach yoga, too. |

I'm so grateful to have met Michelle! Her kind energy opened up my interest in pursuing yoga and meditation. She is such an incredibly light and soul. She starts with grounding ourselves through mindfulness and breathing exercise. She brings the most authentic energy to the class by sharing the history and understanding behind poses, names, and techniques. I truly appreciate her work and impact on my well-being! I’ve had dozens of instructors over the years, but Michelle is far and away the best yoga mentor I’ve ever practiced with. She epitomizes grace during these difficult times. Michelle has saved my sanity and my back while working from home, keeping me grounded with her sharing of yogic teachings and meditation techniques. Her repertoire of physical asanas is encyclopedic, and I’ve loved learning new poses and stretching my boundaries. Jump in, all. You’ve got this! |
