Forest-bathing

What is forest-bathing?

Shinrin-Yoku is the Japanese word for forest-bathing, which is a practice of nurturing a conscious relationship with the more-than-human natural world, based on the understanding that living in harmony with Mother Earth is necessary for our survival, healing and thriving.  Some of the scientifically proven wellness benefits of a regular forest-bathing practice include stress relief, increased feelings of belonging and connection, better sleep and strengthened immune system.  

Our practice will begin with grounding, greeting the surrounding nature and attuning to our senses in a guided meditation.  We'll then wander about the land at a slow and mindful pace to explore our sensory connection with the more-than-human nature around us, inspired by several invitations.  Intermittently, we'll gather in a circle to practice deep listening as human friends may choose to share their observations aloud.  We'll culminate by enjoying tea with the land and conversation with fellow humans.  To read more about Deep Forest-bathing, the practice I facilitate, please check out this blog article I wrote after training with my teacher in Japan.

During forest-bathing, please silence your phones and leave them behind to promote presence with your multi-sensory experience of what's directly around and within you.
