Sacred Harmony: Yoga, Nature & Ancestral Wisdom in Nepal
November 11-20, 2026
Itinerary

This itinerary is provided in good faith and is subject to change due to weather conditions, group pace and needs, and the availability of sites and activities.  Our days will unfold between sacred sites, quiet Himalayan views, lakeside paths, cultural markets, nourishing local cuisine and moments of shared practice.  The flow below offers a general rhythm of our days together.  A detailed itinerary with specific times and locations will be shared with registered participants closer to the retreat.

Day 1 | Arrival & Grounding
Arrive in Kathmandu and meet your retreat community at the airport. Travel together beyond the city’s bustle to a serene Tibetan-style monastery hotel nestled in nature. If time allows, enjoy a guided walk to the sacred Asura and Yenglesho caves—power places of meditation and awakening. We gather in the evening for dinner and an opening circle to set intentions for our journey into Sacred Harmony.
Day 2 | Devotion, Wisdom & Living Art
Wake to Himalayan valley views and the sounds of monks’ prayer. Begin with Yoga, Pranayama, and Meditation, followed by breakfast. Deepen your understanding of Tibetan Buddhism through a discourse with a senior monk on the rare Nyingdo tradition.

In the afternoon, explore the UNESCO-listed city of Patan, known as the “City of Fine Arts.” Wander ancient monasteries and temples, visit the palace museum, and witness artisans at work. Return to the monastery hotel for dinner and rest.

Days 3–4 | Mountains, Sacred Sound & Inner Resonance
After morning practice, fly to Pokhara, enjoying panoramic views of the Himalayas. Continue to a luxury yoga retreat center surrounded by nature trails and lake vistas.

These days invite deep nourishment through organic Ayurvedic meals, daily Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation, Sound Healing, Nada Yoga (Yoga of Sound) and Bhakti Yoga (mantra chanting). Relax by the pool or sauna, book a massage, hike nearby trails, or enjoy outings to local cultural sites.

Day 5 | Village Life & Cultural Exchange
Practice Yoga in the morning, then journey to Dhampus and the ridge-top village of Astam, with sweeping views of terraced hills and Annapurna peaks. Enjoy an easy village hike and a home-cooked lunch in the Gurung community of Henjakot.

In the evening, experience a heartfelt cultural exchange as the local Mothers’ Group (Aama Samuha) shares traditional song and dance—celebrating women’s empowerment and community harmony.

Day 6 | Forest Paths & Ancient Traditions
Begin with Yoga in nature and breakfast, then hike through rhododendron forests and Gurung villages to Australian Base Camp (2,060m) for lunch and expansive mountain views.

In the evening, gather for an introduction to Bon Shamanism, the ancient indigenous spiritual tradition that predates Tibetan Buddhism, with the possibility of receiving a ceremonial blessing from a local shaman.

Day 7 | Ease & Reflection by the Lake
After morning yoga and breakfast, return to Pokhara and check into a lakeside hotel. Enjoy free time to wander markets and cafés. At sunset, visit the World Peace Pagoda for sweeping views of the Himalayas and Pokhara Valley—an invitation into stillness and balance.

Day 8 | Sacred Sites of Hinduism & Buddhism
Morning Yoga by the lake, then fly back to Kathmandu. Visit two profound UNESCO heritage sites:
  • Pashupatinath, one of the most sacred Shiva temples, where life, death, and devotion meet along the river.
  • Boudhanath Stupa, the heart of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal, surrounded by monasteries and prayer-filled streets. Join the evening butter-lamp offering and enjoy dinner in a Tibetan restaurant.

Day 9 | Living History & Celebration
Practice Yoga in the spiritual atmosphere of Boudhanath, enjoy breakfast and then travel to Bhaktapur, a beautifully preserved medieval city. Wander timeless squares, pottery lanes, and traditional art workshops.  Savor local cuisine at a local restaurant for lunch.

Later, explore Thamel’s vibrant streets before gathering for a traditional Nepali farewell dinner with cultural performances—a joyful celebration of shared experience.

Day 10 | Integration & Departure
After breakfast, we come together for a closing circle—honoring the harmony cultivated within and among us—before departing for the international airport and integrating your experiences into and after the journey home.

Michelle truly lives out what she teaches. She is so much more than a yoga teacher - I learned this when I went on her exquisitely curated trip that she organized to Costa Rica this past June 2018...Hopefully like me, you'll be delighted by her effervescent love of movement, nature, and all people!

Michelle clearly stands out with her beautiful and bright energy. I love how her practice and teaching encompass body, mind and spirit. She not only teaches yoga but lives and exudes it.
-Marianne Manes (Los Angeles, CA)
Michelle not only teaches 'yoga', she embodies it fully with her heart and soul...

Michelle is by far one of the best instructors I've ever had, period. Patient, clear in her explanations and demos, and so encouraging...

My first yoga class was with Michelle years ago.  You can have the best (yoga pose) sequence and not teach from your heart.  With Michelle, I also feel her passion when I'm in her class.  I can see she loves what she does, and she inspired me to want to teach yoga, too.

I'm so grateful to have met Michelle! Her kind energy opened up my interest in pursuing yoga and meditation. She is such an incredibly light and soul. She starts with grounding ourselves through mindfulness and breathing exercise. She brings the most authentic energy to the class by sharing the history and understanding behind poses, names, and techniques. I truly appreciate her work and impact on my well-being!

I’ve had dozens of instructors over the years, but Michelle is far and away the best yoga mentor I’ve ever practiced with. She epitomizes grace during these difficult times. Michelle has saved my sanity and my back while working from home, keeping me grounded with her sharing of yogic teachings and meditation techniques. Her repertoire of physical asanas is encyclopedic, and I’ve loved learning new poses and stretching my boundaries. Jump in, all. You’ve got this!
